A day to remember when the moon is smiling at us

I got a sms from my BFF whilst having a dinner that "Look at the moon. I'm smiling at you" I thought it was the sweetest thing she could ever say to me. So I said that to her. She called back and said she actually meant what she said. She wanted me to look at the moon. Alright, I will look at the moon but after my dinner of course.

Unfortunately, the sky was so cloudy where I live here in Koh Samui. I thought maybe it would be just our place, maybe we could drive around the island and see if there's any clearer spot. So my colleague and I drove for 1.5hrs around the island and saw nothing but some shining stars Frown I really REALLY feel so disappointed. Reading people's blogs/journals about this smiling moon makes me feel like I've missed out something GREAT.

The reason why I wanted to see it so badly cos my friend told me that this is something that occurs in every 100 years. I dont think I'd live that long to see another one, unless there's a hot sexy vampire like Edward Cullen to suck on my neck hahaha anyway, that information was WRONG! I did some google and found out that you will be able to see it again in next 48 years hehe now thats I feel a bit better! Smile I really hope I'd still remember this in next 48 years lol I dont know if I'd still be alive by then!

So here's the story, if you've got time to read about it........

So wondering why the moon smile at you? Tonight you might have not notice the moon is smiling. Go out and look at the moon and you might see the moon smiling back at you. The smiling moon phenomenon happens every 48 years, so don’t miss it! “Astronomers say Venus and Jupiter and a crescent moon will form a smiley face tonight, with the planets forming the eyes and the moon forming the mouth. Venus and Jupiter have appeared side by side in the evening sky over the last week or so, but tonight will be the best night to see the “face” appear, astronomers say.”

There will be a spectacular conjunction between the two planets Venus and Jupiter and the crescent Moon. Though the conjunction will be impressive from anywhere in the world, it will only smile on Australia and Australian longitudes almost in the form of a “smiley” emoticon. From the USA, for instance, the conjunction will be in the form of an upside down sad face.

Although the three brightest objects in night sky will appear to be bunched up close together in the sky that does not mean that they are actually close to each other. They are, in fact, just in the same line of sight. The Moon is the closest at about 400,000 km away from Earth. Venus is almost 400 times further away while Jupiter is almost six times further away. They are not close to each other at all.

If you can, try to photograph this event as photographing such bright objects provides an easy way into celestial photography. You will need a tripod and a digital camea with the ability to take a time exposure. Bracket your exposures by taking exposures for, say, 1, 2 and 3 seconds. It can be a little tricky to record the Moon with the correct crescent shape as it is so bright that it is usually overexposed. Turn off the flash as it does not help with distant objects unless you specifically want to record the foreground - a tree or a bush, for instance. When taking the image use the self-timer on the camera to trigger the shutter so that any vibrations have the time to dampen down.

Addendum 1 December 2008: Two pictures from the previous evening. By tonight the Moon will have moved closer to the two “eyes” and will form the smiling mouth of the smiley.

Addendum 10 pm 1 December 2008. There are lots of frowns in Sydney as it has been cloudy. Here are three pictures from Colin who is 7 km west of Gunnedah, NSW to show what Sydneyites missed out on. Thanks Colin

Perhaps it is a reminder for us to be happy amidst the crisis and problems that the world is suffering. Think positive. Be happy!

Then I fall in love with Singapore ♥

I'm pretty sure that many of you would probably have been to Singapore as it's very close to Thailand and the airplane ticket is not that expensive comparing to other countries. I went there once before in 2004 but only for 4 days. I thought I've seen it all cos it is a small country but this time I have seen more of what I have not seen, with some help of my local friends and wikitravel.org [a very good website for all travelers as well as wikipedia i recommend] lol

My first plan to go there is to go to Kanye West concert on 19th Sep but it was postponed to 29th Oct. It sucks I know! I didnt think I wanted to change my flight and everything to next month so I remained everything as planned but I'd need to convince myself what would be a good reason to go there cos I didnt really impress about Singapore that much last time. So I talked to my friends who live in Singapore. They suggested I should go there for the Formula 1 as it'd be the very first night race and if I could I should go there a week before so we all could go to the beach party at Sentosa. Of course I wouldnt hesitate to book my flight from 20th - 29th Sep. I couldnt help thinking if it would be boring there cos I didnt find many activities to do there last time. Oh well I was sure my friends would make sure I'd have a great time there!

It took 4 hours for me to pack my bag. My flight was at 7am so I hadnt really slept until I arrived at my friend Nick's place and slept till 6pm lol We all went to have a Mexican dinner at the restaurant called Burke or something on Clarke Quay riverside. I gotta say that my friend place is really located in a very good area, 5 min walk from MRT and Clarke Quay! We decided to party hard that night as its saturday night and I just arrived. I was so ready to party! Nick and Nigel had to go to their colleague's birthday party. Leaving me alone with 3 boys, Charles, Adam and Paul.

Thanx for making my trip so wonderful guys ♥
Our friend Nicole Chen was DJing at Arena on Clarke Quay that night too but she wouldnt be there til 2 am so we decided to go to the penthouse club called Gotham. I cant remember where exactly it was but we had to pay 20SGD for an entrance fee as there was a special performance from South Africa, a lips sync of Justin Timberlake. It was really hot cos the guy looked pretty much like JT himself haha Too bad we're not allowed to take any photos or vdos during the performance or i'd love to share with u guys here.

Now we know why all the gay guys love Charles - Gotham.

Our friend Nicole Chen as a DJ at Arena

I cant remember what time we got back to Arena but I think the boys opened the bottle of Johnnie Walker again. The table seemed to be full when we walked in. In the meantime, Charles spotted one asian girl and made a bet with me that she was definitely a Thai girl. Man I could not really tell if she was or not cos she looked a bit Chinese. Hence she could be a local! Turned out she was really from Thailand and only here for her Indian/Singaporian boyfriend! I would have to say Charles has become more and more Thai, and perhaps more than me? lol I have no idea how much we drank that night but everyone was so drunk, really drunk. I kinda lost Charles somewhere but he texted me he went home. Paul passed out and fell asleep on the table. I am not sure if I tried to wake him up or not but I think I did say good bye to him before that. Adam left before cos he was sick and started to feel unwell. I dont get it alcohol is supposed to heal your cold right? lol Thank god my place was not that far. So I could just walk back to my place in 5 min.

So this is the Thai girl we met at Arena, really wonder whose fingers is it.

I had a painful hangover the next day. I think I got up sometimes in the afternoon before getting ready for a beach party @ KM8 beach, Sentosa. I was tpld that people always go there every Sunday. My memory of Sentosa beach was not that impressive. Someone told me it was a fake beach [?] but I could see this time that it is NOT haha perhaps someone could explain to me. Anyway I LOVE this beach party! It's full of so damn good-looking expats and models! haha I felt like I was in Heaven. I forgot that I didnt really turn on my flash when taking a picture so they all look a bit dark and blurry, sorry! If anyone of you would have a chance to go there, I'd recommend to check the "BLUE" drink in a bottle of Absolut Vodka. I cant remember what its called now but you can ask for it at the country. Everyone is drinking it there so they know what it is. It's about 50SGD per bottle and it would really hit you in a few hours! We were almost the last group on the beach who left the place around mid night. There's no taxi coming in for you. You need to make a call to taxi service. I'm glad I went with some locals ;)

The local supermarket near Nicks place

DJ Booth at KM8

They call it "sperm pool" I still havent got a chance to jump in haha

Later that night

The next day is Monday when everyone had to work. I didnt have any special plan as I was not really planning to do any tourist stuff since I was here 4 yrs ago. Well I got up around 11 and in time for Lunch with Charles and Adam. So I stopped by their office and had some Japanese food. I never realize that Nick's place is only 10 min walk from where they both work, 1st George street. Then I decided to wonder around Orchard road, shoppers paradise! It hasnt really changed from the last time i was there! except that there were a lot of F1 ads everywhere. Good to see a lot of Kimi's cute faces haha I was wearing my high heels so I could only 3 hrs walk there. Got home around 4-5pm and went out for a dinner at Tapas tree near Clarke Quay river side around 11pm. It's a very nice spanish restaurant. If you like spanish, you may wanna check it out. As for me, I still cant remember what the food we ordered is called, forgive me! hehe

My tribute to WALL-E

I'm not sure how many of you have already seen "WALL-E". I just went to see it yesterday and I'd have to say that I have fallen in love with him, yeah him. I'd rather think of him as a human and not a robot cos the movie has brought him to life with a feeling like human. Imagine yourself as the last person on earth, how desperately you would be in need of a friend or someone to talk or hang around? The movie may seem to reflect the same idea of "companionship" as well as we see in "CAST AWAY" except the fact that this movie makes it way too cute lol

Does "EVE" remind you of any of your girlfriends? I think she does Wink in many possible way. She's determine, yet very sweet. I adore everything Wall-E does for Eve. To me, he's such a sweetheart and never gives up so easily! I'd want to have someone who risks his life to protect me, save me and never let me go! I guarantee that you will definitely get to cry a few times throughout the movie just like me lol Wall-E love for Eve is just so unconditional that you may actually forget that they are just robots which are made to save our world.

The funniest part is when I saw those overweight people who we all might turn into in the future if we dont really get to do anything but just sit there and eat all day. It scares me a lot cos I dont wanna become like that one day. I'd say this is a good reminder for me to find something to do in my life not just sit here in front of the computer and do absolutely nothing and there go another day of my life! Though I might blame it on technology [for a bit] we have brought to our life and made our life so convenient lol Would you imagine yourself living in a world where no one actually interact towards each other physicially. I wonder if we were all so overweight like that, how would we be able to have sex and babies? lol

Throughout the movie, I do think that what they are trying to say is that the world needs to be taken care of because we're the ONLY one who create it, destroy it and heal it. I dont wanna be living out of space in the middle of nowhere not knowing the world where my ancesters used to live was like. After seeing this movie, I do wanna plant more trees on my balcony cos at least I wanna do something to the world i live in and if everyone would do the same, how lovely our world would be. Someone gotta start to do something to save our world, right? Smile

Raindrop

I dont like crying for whatever reason cos sometimes I just could not stop crying. The feeling is unexplainable whether I am lost, confused or sad. I guess sometimes I could not help being so emotional. I just dont wanna show my feeling to anyone. I want them to know I'm ok but I am not. My body has become so numb and my brain stopped working for a while. I just wish I could turn back times, bring back all the beautiful memories and freeze it there. In reality, I guess I would just have to let it go even though it would not be that easy. Yeah who said life is easy, it never had and never will.

Now the rain is falling down...outside my window... as if god knows how I feel inside.

My new love

I also found a new love. He's only one and a half month old hehe My sister and I bought him from Silom road a few nights ago. I still dont know what to name him. Various name suggestion has been received but I still could not decide. My sister called him "Pandy" as he looks a bit like a panda and eat like a pig hahaha I have been calling him "Baby" cos I didnt really know what to call. I had a very nice dream that I made out with Jesse Spencer a night before. So now I'm thinking maybe I should name him Jesse lol

Everyone keeps asking me the same question,

"Hey I thought you're moving to Netherlands, why did you buy a dog? Are you taking him with you as well?"

Oh no, I dont think so, no matter how much I want to take him there with me! Do you know how much do u have to pay to take your pet with you on the plane? My friend told me I would need to pay something like 100usd extra but I'm not sure. I think I'm gonna miss him so much when I move.

As for now, he's the only thing that keeps me entertain during the day. I cannot really leave him alone cos he gets to moan so loud if he doesnt see anyone around. I could only sneak out of my room when he's sleeping! I think everyone who has a puppy might experience the same thing, the biting habit. My dog is biting everything in front of him. He's biting my arms, my legs, my feets, my clothes (I'm wearing), my laptop charger, the electical wires, newspapers, my sandals etc. Incredible! We could not really sleep at night cos he usually sleeps during the day and are so awaken and very hyperactive at night. He normally comes to beg me to feed him at 1-2 am. Not sure if it's a bad habit but he's becoming a pig soon I think. I think you wanna see how cute he is now right? lol I took a vdo of him yesterday so enjoy. I hope you dont mind my ugly voice as found in the vdo lol

Have a good one xx

Will you marry me?

"Today is February 29 or what we know as "a Leap Year", the day when tradition dictates that hopeful ladies can turn the tables and pop the question to their man.

In a Leap Year, it's traditional for women to propose to men. This year we're giving all you romantics out there the chance to propose to your loved ones in our special February 29 edition.

There is a tradition that in 1288 the Scottish parliament under Queen Margaret legislated that any woman could propose in Leap Year; few parliament records of that time exist, and none concern February 29.[1] Another component of this tradition was that if the man rejects the proposal, he should soften the blow by providing a kiss, one pound currency( or about 100,000THB today), and a pair of gloves (some later sources say a silk gown)"

I didnt know about that till today. I think it's pretty fair for us ladies who want to get marry so terribly but our boyfriend still wont make any move no matter how many hints you've been giving to lol I'm pretty sure that some couples are just happy the way they are, no need a piece of paper to show their commitment or anything but I'm pretty sure that deep down inside, most of us still wanna get married anyway, right? ;-)

Personally I think getting married is something I wanna do just to show the world that the man I'm getting married is forever mine! You know it is not easy to find a guy who completely commit to you when you live in Thailand, esp Bangkok, The temptation land. There are always so many beautiful women around you and him? I still think that if you find someone special who means a lot to you, just dont let them go. It's still not too late to ask them to marry you now or else you have to wait for another 4 years lol

Although by the time I finish writing this, it's already passed 29th of February (I finished the first half on 29th!). I'm still hoping to find Mr.right by 2012 so I could ask him to marry me if he would not do that before then. Perhaps I'd feel so old and desperate by then hahaha well you'd never know would you?

So may I ask you again, "Will you marry me?" I hope it's a Yes ;-)

My Hong Kong trip Day 1 {04.01.08}

I've never really planned to go there. Then my girl friend asked me to go with her so I would not mind to go there for once. I bought the ticket and everything but then I could not go with her anymore. I won the tickets to see how they build an AirBus and Fly back with it in Toulouse France with Eazy FM on that same date of my trip to HK with my girl friend. So I had to postpone my trip with my friend. Basically I had to let her go alone! I still really feel bad about it, although her pictures show me how much fun she had without me hahaha The most ironic thing is I could not go to France cos I could not take any more days off. The radio (or maybe AirAsia the sponsor) kept postponing the date. It was kinda sad but I didnt really regret that much. To me it would be 2-3 days flying and 2 days trip around the town. I guess it would not be much different from other town in Europe and i'd rather go to Paris to see the Effel and party with my friends Wink

Anyway, that was happened in December 2007. I've postponed my Emirates ticket to 4-7 Jan, 2008. It was a promotion ticket so I could only extend my ticket for one month. I was actually excited about this trip cos I was gonna be a backpacker again! So of course I've been planning my trip very well, about where to go, where to do, that kinda stuff you know.

I am known and aware of myself that I am always almost the last passenger who get on board! So I tried my best to catch the plane as earliest this time. I got to the airport one hour before my departure time. I was waiting in a check-in queue but then I was told to buy a new ticket first cos I postponed my ticket. So I had to run to buy new ticket and come back to the check-in desk. The worst thing could ever possibly happen was that my flight was already full. Basically it was overlooked. Of course I felt like wtf! how could you let this happened?? So they told me that they would transfer me to China Airlines which would be delay one hour. I was then put in a VIP business lounge. It was ok then. Got some snacks and free alcohol! Too bad that my rule is try not to drink while i'm on board lol One hour delay for me was ok cos I didnt have anyone to pick me up at the airport so I didnt have to keep anyone waiting. They also gave me a duty free voucher of 200UAE worth. I could buy anything within the limit while flying back from Hong Kong to BKK. I actually forgot about it and didnt buy anything on my way back. Luckily, the ticket is still valid and I am already planning to buy a eye shadow set of Bobby Brown, yeah thats all its worth lol I'd have to say that China Airlines is one of nicest airlines I'd love to fly with. Apart from Bangkok Airway, they also performed a nice landing that didnt hurt my ears. People might complain about small seat but hey I'm small so I really had no problem about it lol

Me waiting @ the VIP Business Lounge

I like flying at night cos the view on the ground is amazingly beautiful. Hong Kong is really a lively colourful country indeed. I could see that there're a lot of Thais coming to Hong Kong through the custom. It's so nice that we can travel to Hong Kong for 30 days without a visa requirement. I didnt expect to be asked for my luggage check at the custom but it happened. I asked the guy at the custom whether they would check all people coming from Thailand, he said "no, it was random". I thought, "then why me? afraid that i'd come and seduce your guys? hahaha " I felt free after the custom. Now I had to look for an octopus card. I read on the website that it's really a MUST to have this card cos its like a by-pass card to all transportation in Hong Kong and it was absolutely so worth it! It'd help you save cost on travelling. I think I only spent about on transportation 200 HKD by octopus card and 80HKD by taxi. (1 HKD = 4.32 THB) Anyway, I think I was a bit dumb enough to not be able to find an octopus card. I firsly went to Cafe DeCoral, another fast-food shop like McDonalds, cos it was the website that you can buy an octopus card here and McDonalds. No, not at the Airport Branch! Then I went to 7/11 cos the girl at that cafe told me so. The service at 7/11 was only to refil the card. Then I sorta got lost in the airport which is actually not that big lol I finally found a way to get a Shuttle Bus cos it's cheapest and provides great service. I asked the guy at the ticket desk if I could buy an octopus card with him. He said, "Upstair". I was like huh?? So I asked again, "Where". He said "MTR" oh well that didnt really help much cos they didnt really speak english. Then I had to go up stair and find MTR counter service again. It was very tough for me cos my luggage was only 13kgs and walking up and down kept me a really good sweating, not! The Airport Shuttle Bus service was excellent. It only takes 40 min from the airport in Lantau Island to Kowloon! It was amazed by all sky-high buidling next to each other like a domino ever since the bus drove pass from the Airport. It's really unique Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Int'l Airport

Airport Shuttle Bus - with no charge of luggage fee!

I booked the cheapest hostel in a good location on Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. What I didnt know is that the Chungking building I was staying in was a scary place for a girl travelling alone! That was my HK friends said anyway lol Tongue out but seriously I think it's as worst as some cheap hotels around Nana. I was annoyed by those non-Hong kongian people that tried to persuade me to their hostels in front of the building. The best you can do is to ignore them. When I arrived my hostel, I didnt actually get a room I booked for. Instead, they gave me a twin bed room which I had to pay extra for that. It's kinda suck cos I was on a limited budget and it was not really my fault. You know Hong kong is a very small country, so it's no doubt when I saw my super tiny room. What I like about this location is that it's really closed to MTR (Mass Transit Railway) , the same system as MRT here but way better and faster lol Kowloon is a great place for all shopaholic, although I didnt shop much this time.

People in the building. The funny thing is you can see what people are doing in the lift while waiting in the queue. I even saw some couple made up in the lift!

So ready to go out now

I looked at the time after the check-in and everything. It was almost 9. I had to thank to Bowling for introducing me to her friends in Hong Kong. They called me so I headed out to Lan Kwai Fong, an expat night life centre! I dont know how to compare Lan Kwai Fong with night clubs in BKK cos there're so many places in Bangkok for me to recommend you to go! lol When I walked to LWF, it was like this is where I belong! hahaha There were so many cute guys which apparently you could not find in other places in HK lol I met up with Bowling's friends , Devan and Katerine who are also now my friends hehe , at the chill bar called Jem. Then they took me to another bar of their friends called Priory. What made me interested in this bar is that they got a dancing pole in the end of the room lol I was gonna do some pose there but it seemed like everybody really enjoyed themselves there Wink They also got err what do u call it u know a dentist chair.. i have no idea what its for but it's very interesting dont u think? Tongue out Today didnt seem like a good day for me. Some guy was swinging his ass off on the pole and accidentally kicked me in the back of my head. I was standing close to the pole and I think his long leg somehow got to me! He didnt even know he was kicking me till we told him. After Priory, we went to a club called Beijing Club. Here in HK, you need to know someone to get u in the club like someone who is a regular or someone with a member club or something. I could not help but wonder, "would I be able to get myself in the club if I didnt know anyone? Use my charm?? lol " Beijing Club is similar to most clubs in BKK. They play Hiphop, most known pop music and so on. You need to get on the lift to the 3rd floor to go to the club. I dont like that it's quite dark there. Its hard for me to see if there's any cutie or hottie u know. As a result, I've seen NONE! There's a section where you can sit outside on the balcony. You can smoke but no alcohol please. A bit weird isnt it? It did remind me when I was sitting chilling myself out on top of Vertigo at Banyan tree hotel here, yep very chill.

Somewhere near Lan Kwai Fong

My Hero(in) of the night!

They're funny as hell

He's actually a toy maker u know lol

Making friend with a local

A hot waitress @ Priory. She's a male btw hehe

Beijing Club

After the clubs, as usual they wanted to eat lol we went to , according to Devan, the best and the worst noodle restaurant. He said the restaurant was running 24hrs and if you wanna eat after a night out, you can always come here. Sorry that i forgot the name of the restaurant. Not that i was drunk or anything. it was in Chinese and its hard for me to remember the name of it! I looked at the time again, it's almost 5 am. Taking a taxi from Central to TST would cost me at least 100HKD so Katerine and I decided to stay over at Devan's. I was gonna get up at 6 to catch up MTR but oh well you know I would not make it right? yeah I didnt get up till 9. It was a great first day...well night... in HK.

To be continued....
